The History of History Insights

My name is Bryson, and I started History Insights on April 27, 2021. But my love for learning and sharing history goes far beyond that.

When I was just eleven years old, I began to read about history (at least, that’s as far back as I can remember reading it). I was in 6th grade at the time, and I believe that I was the only kid in my class who brought his history textbook home on nights with no homework. Soon, I was chapters ahead of the rest of the class, as what humans had done before our time was always fascinating to me.

Before the school year ended, I began writing down all the facts that I found interesting in the textbook into a notebook. That way, I could keep and remember that stuff that I thought was cool. I even began sharing some of the facts with my family members, and creating short quizzes for them to take. It was all really fun for me.

Middle school went by, and so did high school, but I never stopped reading and learning history. History was easily my favorite class, and I often got my best grades in it. I continued to take my history textbook home with me for fun.

Throughout my childhood, I also enjoyed going to my local bookstore and reading history books. One of my relatives enjoyed going to garage sales on the weekends, and sometimes I tagged along and came across some interesting finds, such as historical items or books that you couldn’t find elsewhere. I never collected historical items, but I often went home with the books.

After I graduated from high school, I began to take an interest in writing history. This was sparked by my desire to share the most interesting aspects of history with others. There are some stories that I’ve read that I simply cannot keep to myself. I felt the need to share them, to allow more people to know that “this” took place once.

Then, people began to tell me that I introduced them to new parts of history that they had never heard of. And History Insights grew. Now you are reading this on the History Insights website, which I started after realizing that this was getting big, and eleven-year-old me was cheering inside, extremely proud.

History Insights is more than talking about the past. It’s about sharing aspects of history that may not often be discussed, and allowing readers to enjoy fascinating stories of things that have actually happened.
